Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a soft, waxy substance produced mainly in the liver, the adrenal glands and reproductive organs. It is a natural and necessary component of our body cells and many hormones, but it becomes bad when high levels are present in the body.

High levels of cholesterol in the blood stream are associated with hardening of the arteries, development of arteriosclerosis, premature coronary heart disease and many other vascular diseases.

Spinach, broccoli and other dark green, leafy vegetables contain substantial amounts of lutein. Having a high amount of lutein in the blood streams help reduce the build up of cholesterol. Omega-3 helps lower levels of LDL cholesterol.
